What Would Anwar Do?

Well, the Selangor MB saga seems to be just about settled, and Anwar’s got Khalid safely out of the way. Now, how would Pakatan handle the issues that Khalid had been heavily criticised for?

Here’s what our slightly demented imaginations can think of. What do you think?

Haven’t we seen something like this before?

Um, we think a little explanation is in order before we start today’s piece.

The Occasional Petai is supposed to write non-partisan commentaries on current issues. We didn’t intend for it to be all about Anwar, but since our friend has made it all about what he wants in the news…I guess we’ll just go with that for the moment. At least until the next big drama comes around in our country. Then we’ll use that as fodder for our new comedy writings.

We  promise.

In the meantime, the fight for the Selangor MB’s post is becoming more and more surreal. PKR has announced that a 50-page book explaining why Khalid can’t be MB would be given the the Presidents of the 3 Pakatan parties. In the infinite wisdom of PKR, a book produced for only 3 people’s eyes has to be announced to the whole world, naturally.

And naturally, the book was “leaked” to the press immediately after the announcement. Of course, that HAD to be unintentional, right? PKR never intended it to happen, right? Right…and Clark Kent is not Superman because Superman doesn’t wear glasses.

Speaking of comic characters, remember when Dr M and Anwar were fighting for the PM post in 1998? There were some pretty awesome battles being fought then. “Battle of Minas Tirith” level of awesome (that reference is from Lord of the Rings – if you didn’t know that, you should watch more movies!). Those days, we witnessed how Dr M unleashed the government’s guns on Anwar (literally) and how Anwar loosed his screaming hordes into the streets of KL.

But before all that, there was a little book called “50 Dalil Kenapa Anwar Tidak Boleh Menjadi PM” (50 Reasons Why Anwar Cannot Be PM). The book gave, well, 50 reasons why Anwar should not be allowed to be PM. Apa lagi, Anwar condemn kau-kau the book la, calling it lies, dirty politics, work of evil people, etc.

But lo and behold, what do we see today?

deja vu

In the words of old Biff Tanner himself (for those of you who don’t know who that is: you really need to watch more movies!)

Khalid and the “Kajang Move”

What the kajang move would look like, if it was a "cerita dongeng". Wait... it IS a bloody fairy tale!

What the kajang move would look like, if it was a “cerita dongeng”. Wait… it IS a bloody fairy tale!

So…what’s this genius political manouver called the “Kajang Move” all about?

Well, if we tried to explain what we think in words, we’ll only end up with a 2-word article. And one of them will be an expletive. So we thought, “why not a comic?” God knows, the whole thing is comical enough already, led by chief clown Anwar and his merry band of circus creatures.

But seriously, is there any more doubt that Anwar is a man without scruples? If Khalid is so bad as an MB, why not dismiss him with a vote of no confidence in the Dewan? It’s done in every other proper democracy in the world, as Anwar likes to point out.

Anwar’s gone to town claiming the other 2 Pakatan parties are in full agreement with him to replace Khalid, kan? The vote would be guaranteed! And it will all be upfront and according to law, what’s not to like about that plan?

But then…that’s not quite Anwar’s style. He’s famous for “suka main belakang” kan?
